VIRUS, Masami Obari's 13 episode dystopic science fiction series was a wildly popular hit when it aired on Japanese television in 1997. Set in the year 2097 in Neo Hong Kong, the series finds the world inhabited by human/computer hybrids and genetically enhanced humans that operate on biological software. However, these advances have their price as users of biological software are susceptible to viruses that take over their host. To deal with these malevolent viruses, an elite task force known as STAND formed to deal with virus ridden war machines.
